Excel 2021 needs a Windows 11 PC with a 1.1 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 4 GB of free disk space. Microsoft lists the same minimums for the whole Office 2021 family, including standalone apps. This key is for the Windows version; a Mac needs a Mac edition.

When does support for Excel 2021 end?
Microsoft set 13 October 2026 as the end-of-support date for Excel 2021 and the rest of Office 2021. From that date the app keeps working and stays activated, but it no longer receives security updates.
If the PC handles email, client files or anything sensitive, we suggest a supported release such as Excel 2024, which Microsoft supports until 9 October 2029. Excel 2021 still suits PCs that must match an existing Office 2021 setup.
How do I install and activate Excel 2021?
Download Excel with the link in your order email, install it, then enter your 25-character product key when Excel asks for it. Remove other Excel versions first, because leftover installs are the most common reason setup or activation fails.
- Uninstall any other version of Excel, or an Office suite that includes it, from Settings → Apps.
- Download Excel 2021 using the link in your order email.
- Run the installer and wait until it finishes.
- Open Excel and enter the product key from your email when asked.
- Check File → Account: it should show “Product Activated”.
A common problem we see is a clash with Office that's already on the PC. Microsoft doesn't support two Click-to-Run installations that contain the same app, so Excel 2021 can't sit next to Microsoft 365 or another Office version that already includes Excel. An older MSI-based install such as Office 2016 can also block setup, so remove it first.

Yes. Excel 2021 was the first one-time-purchase version with XLOOKUP, XMATCH, LET and dynamic arrays such as FILTER, SORT and UNIQUE. The later text and array functions, such as TEXTSPLIT and VSTACK, need Excel 2024 or Microsoft 365.
What happens to Excel 2021 after 13 October 2026?
Excel 2021 keeps working and stays activated, but Microsoft no longer releases security updates for it from that date. For a PC that handles email or sensitive files, we suggest a supported version such as Excel 2024, which gets updates until 9 October 2029.
Can I move Excel to a new PC later?
This key is for one PC. If you replace your computer, contact our support team with your order number before you uninstall from the old PC. Whether a transfer is possible depends on the licence type, so it's best to ask first.
Do I need Office installed to use Excel 2021?
