Which apps are included in Office 2019 Standard?
Office 2019 Standard includes six desktop apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher. Access isn't included; it is only in Professional Plus. Microsoft has announced that Publisher will no longer be supported after October 2026, so plan ahead if you rely on it.
| App | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Word | Documents, letters, reports and CVs |
| Excel | Spreadsheets, budgets, formulas and charts |
| PowerPoint | Presentations and slide decks |
| Outlook | Email, calendar and contacts |
| OneNote | Notes, notebooks and to-do lists |
| Publisher | Flyers, newsletters and print layouts |
What's the difference between Office 2019 Standard and Professional Plus?
The only app difference is Access: Professional Plus includes it and Standard doesn't. If you never build or open Access databases, Standard already gives you every other app. Both Office 2019 editions include Publisher.
| Office 2019 Standard | Office 2019 Professional Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote | Included | Included |
| Publisher | Included | Included |
| Access | Not included | Included |
| Runs on | Windows PC | Windows PC |
| Payment | One-time purchase | One-time purchase |
A question we often get is whether Standard can open Access files. It can't: .accdb databases need Access, which only Professional Plus includes.
How does the 5-50 PC volume licence work?
This volume option lets you license between 5 and 50 computers in one order. You choose the number of PCs when you order, and the email you receive after payment contains your licence key and step-by-step instructions for that number of computers.
Every covered PC runs the same edition, Office 2019 Standard, which keeps setup and support consistent across an office. Volume editions can be activated inside an Office app or from the command line, which saves time when IT staff set up many PCs.
Is Office 2019 still supported by Microsoft?
No. Office 2019 reached end of support on 14 October 2025. Since then, Microsoft no longer releases security updates or bug fixes for it. The apps keep working, but if you need a supported version, choose Office 2024, which is supported until 9 October 2029.
Office 2019 still suits buyers who need to match an existing setup, for example an office where every PC runs the same version. For a new installation, Office 2024 gives you the longest remaining support period.
What are the system requirements for Office 2019 Standard?
You need a Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC with a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM (2 GB for 32-bit Office) and about 4 GB of free disk space. Office 2019 Standard doesn't run on macOS.
| Component | Minimum requirement |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11 or Windows 10 (and supported Windows Server versions) |
| Processor | 1.6 GHz or faster, 2 cores |
| Memory (RAM) | 4 GB (2 GB for 32-bit Office) |
| Storage | 4 GB of free disk space |
| Display | 1280 × 768 resolution |
| Internet | Needed for installation and activation |

How do I install and activate Office 2019 Standard?
On each computer, install Office from the link in your order email and activate it with your licence key. For a few PCs, enter the key in Word; for many, IT staff can activate from the command line.
- On each PC, uninstall older Office or Microsoft 365 versions from Settings → Apps.
- Install Office 2019 Standard using the download link in your order email.
- Open Word and enter the key when asked, or go to File → Account → Change Product Key.
- To activate from the command line instead, open Command Prompt as administrator and run
cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX, then the same command with/act(use "Program Files (x86)" for 32-bit Office). - Confirm activation with
ospp.vbs /dstatusor under File → Account.
The most common problem we see is a different Office edition already on the PC, such as a preinstalled Microsoft 365 or Home & Business copy. Your key only activates Office 2019 Standard, so remove other editions and install the one from your order email.
Frequently asked questions
How many PCs does this licence cover?
It covers the number of PCs you choose when you order, anywhere from 5 to 50. Each of those computers can run Office 2019 Standard. If you later need Office on more PCs than you licensed, you need an additional licence for the extra computers.
Do all the PCs have to run the same edition?
Yes. Your key activates Office 2019 Standard only, so every computer covered by the licence needs that same edition installed. A Standard key won't activate Professional Plus, and a Professional Plus key won't activate Standard.
Does Office 2019 Standard include Access?
No. Access is only included in Office 2019 Professional Plus. Standard gives you Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher. If you need to create or open Access databases (.accdb files), choose Professional Plus instead.
Is Office 2019 Standard a one-time purchase?
Yes. It's a one-time purchase with no subscription, and the apps keep working. However, Office 2019 reached end of support on 14 October 2025, so it no longer receives security updates from Microsoft. Choose it mainly when you need to match an existing setup.
