Which apps are included in Office 2021 Standard?
Office 2021 Standard includes six desktop apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher. Access isn't included; it is only in Professional Plus. Microsoft has announced that Publisher will no longer be supported after October 2026, so plan ahead if you rely on it.
| App | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Word | Documents, letters, reports and CVs |
| Excel | Spreadsheets, budgets, formulas and charts |
| PowerPoint | Presentations and slide decks |
| Outlook | Email, calendar and contacts |
| OneNote | Notes, notebooks and to-do lists |
| Publisher | Flyers, newsletters and print layouts |
What's the difference between Office 2021 Standard and Professional Plus?
The only app difference is Access: Professional Plus includes it and Standard doesn't. If you never build or open Access databases, Standard already gives you every other app. Both Office 2021 editions include Publisher.
| Office 2021 Standard | Office 2021 Professional Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote | Included | Included |
| Publisher | Included | Included |
| Access | Not included | Included |
| Runs on | Windows PC | Windows PC |
| Payment | One-time purchase | One-time purchase |
A question we often get is whether Standard can open Access files. It can't: .accdb databases need Access, which only Professional Plus includes.
How does the 3-key pack work?
You get 3 separate 25-character product keys, and each key activates Office 2021 Standard on one Windows PC. You don't have to activate them all at once: an unused key can wait for a computer you set up later.
Install Office on each computer and enter a different key on each one. A key that has already activated one PC won't activate a second, so it helps to note which key went to which computer.
A pack suits a household with several PCs or a small office that wants the same Office version everywhere. Using one version on every machine makes file sharing and day-to-day support simpler.
Is Office 2021 still supported by Microsoft?
Office 2021's end-of-support date is 13 October 2026, for both the Windows and Mac versions. From that date, Microsoft no longer releases security updates, bug fixes or technical support for it. The apps keep working, but if you want a version supported until 2029, choose Office 2024.
Office 2021 still suits buyers who need to match an existing setup, for example an office where every PC runs the same version. For a new installation, Office 2024 gives you the longest remaining support period.
What are the system requirements for Office 2021 Standard?
You need a Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC with a 1.1 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and about 4 GB of free disk space. Office 2021 Standard doesn't run on macOS; Mac users need a Mac edition of Office.
| Component | Minimum requirement |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11 or Windows 10 (and supported Windows Server versions) |
| Processor | 1.1 GHz or faster, 2 cores |
| Memory (RAM) | 4 GB |
| Storage | 4 GB of free disk space |
| Display | 1280 × 768 resolution |
| Internet | Needed for installation and activation |

How do I install and activate Office 2021 Standard?
Each PC is set up the same way: install Office from the link in your email, then enter one of your 3 keys. Use a different key on every computer.
- On the first PC, uninstall any older Office or Microsoft 365 version from Settings → Apps.
- Download and install Office 2021 Standard using the link in your order email.
- Open Word or Excel and enter the first key from your email when asked.
- Check File → Account shows "Product Activated".
- Repeat these steps on each of the other PCs, using the next unused key each time.
A common mistake with packs is entering a key that was already used on another PC, which makes activation fail. Mark each key as used as soon as it activates, and you will always know which ones are still free.
Frequently asked questions
Do I get one key or 3 separate keys?
You get 3 separate keys, all in the same email. Each one activates Office 2021 Standard on one PC, so the pack covers 3 computers in total. There is no single master key that unlocks several PCs at once.
Can I use one key on two computers?
No. Each key in the pack activates Office on one PC only. To add another computer, you need another key. If you replace one of your PCs, contact our support team with your order number before you uninstall Office from it.
Does Office 2021 Standard include Access?
No. Access is only included in Office 2021 Professional Plus. Standard gives you Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher. If you need to create or open Access databases (.accdb files), choose Professional Plus instead.
Is Office 2021 Standard a one-time purchase?
Yes. You pay once, with no subscription, and the apps keep working. Keep in mind that Microsoft's end-of-support date for Office 2021 is 13 October 2026. From that date, it gets no further security updates, so Office 2024 is the better choice for long-term use.
